Sean Osborn has traveled throughout the world as soloist and during his eleven years with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He has performed as guest principal clarinet with the New York Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony, the Seattle Symphony, and the American Symphony Orchestra. Making his recital debut at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts at the age of 17, Mr. Osborn is a top prize winner in both the ARTS Competition and the International Clarinet Society Competition and in 1984 was named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts. He has participated in the Marlboro, Colorado, Aspen, and Keystone music festivals. As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with renowned musicians including James Levine, Donald Weilerstein, Richard Stoltzman, and the St. Lawrence String Quartet. He has recorded for Sony, EMI, Phillips, London, and others, and his solo CDs are on Albany Records. Mr. Osborn studied with Stanley Hasty at the Eastman School of Music, Dr. Eric Mandat, Dr. Frank Kowalsky, and is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and the Interlochen Arts Academy. A respected teacher, he has given master classes at Rice University, Florida State University, the University of Puget Sound, and the Manhattan School of Music amongst others. In 2006, he joined the faculty of the University of Washington. Mr. Osborn is also a composer whose works have been widely performed by amateurs, students, and professionals. |
